Cristiano Ronaldo’s Nike Endorsement

Cristiano Ronald’s Background:

Cristiano Ronaldo was born on February 5, 1985, making him 36 years old. His full name is Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro. He is well-known throughout the world for his football career, and he currently plays for Manchester United. He has also won five golden ball honours in football over his incredible career. Ronaldo was born in the Portuguese island of Madeira and joined Manchester United at the age of 18 in 2003, winning the FA Cup in his first season.

Nikes Background:

Nike is well-known throughout the world for their athletic apparel. This is due to the fact that they appeal to a wide range of athletic markets because they cover all areas. They have products for football players, basketball players, golfers, and even everyday wear like tracksuits and trainers.

Nike and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Partnership:

Cristiano Ronaldo is Nike’s most well-known sponsorship, which makes sense. This is due to the fact that when people think of football, the first person who springs to mind is Cristiano Ronaldo, who is nearly the face of the sport around the world. Nike announced a lifetime deal with Ronaldo in early September, according to Anna Davies 2021. This was Nike’s third such lifetime contract. Ronaldo, on the other hand, has been a Nike partner since 2003, the same year he joined the Premier League. There are no specific calculations for how much the endorsement between the two is worth, but reports and data suggest it is well over $1 billion.

This was a major deal for both Nike and Ronaldo, but in my opinion, it was well worth it for Nike. This is because, according to weCreate 2021, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Instagram account has 315.75 million followers as of July 2021. As a result, the sheer number of people it has reached is astounding. Although $1 million may appear to be an extortionate sum, it will prove to be extremely profitable for Nike in the future. This is because, rather of spending millions on new advertisements, anytime Nike introduces a new line/collection, Ronaldo could simply make a simple Instagram post with that line and it would reach a large number of people. Furthermore, some advertisements may not be allowed to be seen in particular countries/regions due to religious or cultural beliefs, but they will be able to visit the Instagram account.

Ronaldo’s most popular Instagram post was from 2016, when he captained Portugal to the Euros. It only has the hashtag #justdoit as a caption. This one post became viral, receiving over 1.75 million likes and over 13,000 comments. Nike was rewarded handsomely for their efforts, with an estimated media value of $5.8 million. 2021 (Anna Davies)

Furthermore, because part of the older generation still prefers Facebook to Instagram, Ronaldo has a sizable following there as well. Ronaldo has the most Facebook admirers in the football community, according to Trackaltics 2021, with around 122.28 million as of June 2021. As a result, the fans he doesn’t contact on Instagram will almost certainly find him on Facebook. This is because the older generation is more likely to use Facebook than Instagram, resulting in Instagram targeting under 30s and Facebook targeting over 30s.
